Overview

Travelling in Egypt makes for great memories - a country of wonder, magic & mystery. As you leisurely cruise along the river Nile you get to explore ancient Egyptian temples and tombs and during your stay in Cairo discover major monuments in the Giza area as well as Roman relics in Alexandria.

Tour itinerary

DAY 01 - Arrival:
Welcome to Cairo - meet in the arrivals hall and transfer to hotel. Remainder of day/evening free at leisure for you to begin exploring this amazing city (as per your flight arrival time). Overnight in Cairo.

DAY 02 - Guided Giza Tour:
No visit to Egypt would be complete without visiting the Pyramids of Giza & Sphinx. Head off to explore these amazing sites with your private tour guide. The day will also include visits to the ancient capital of Egypt, Memphis (dating from 3100BC), which contains the beautiful representation of King Ramsis II through his colossal statue & Sakkara to see the world-famous Step Pyramid of King Zoser. After tour transfer to rail station for departure on overnight sleeper train to Luxor.

**Sleeper trains offer 2 person private cabins, however bathroom is shared with other cabins in same wagon

DAY 03 - Nile Cruise (Luxor):
Breakfast on train, arrival to Luxor and meet for transfer to board the 04-night Nile Cruise. Embarkation before lunch. Then depart wth cruise guide on a tour to visit the Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun which is also known for its pillars that take the form of a bundle of Papyrus. Then proceed to the Temple of Karnak, built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. Return back to the cruise. Overnight onboard Nile Cruise.

DAY 04 - Nile Cruise (Luxor):
After breakfast onboard start by crossing to the West Bank of the Nile to visit the Valley of Kings, a vast "City of the Dead" where magnificent tombs were carved and filled with treasures for the afterlife. Then proceed to the foot of the cliff, to visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the only woman who ruled Egypt in Pharaonic History. On the way back to the River Nile, your road passes by the famed Colossi of Memnon. Return to cruise and sail to Esna. Overnight onboard cruise.

DAY 05 - Nile Cruise (Kom Ombo & Edfu):
Sail to Edfu and on arrival visit the Temple of Horus, the largest and most complete preserved Pharoanic Temple that combines Pharaonic & Greek architectures. Return to Cruise and sail for Kom Ombo where you visit the Temple of Sobek & Haroeris. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the river bank.

DAY 06 - Nile Cruise (Aswan):
Sail for Aswan where on arrival visit the High Dam which was an engineering miracle when it was built in the 1960s. Move to Philae Temple which was dedicated to goddess Isis & now reassembled on Agilika Island about 500km from its former site at Philae Island. Afternoon enjoy a Felucca Ride to view the Aga Khan Mausoleum or Elephantine Island. Overnight onboard Nile Cruise.

DAY 07 - Aswan to Cairo (optional Abu Simbel):
Breakfast, disembark with the day free at leisure until transfer to rail station for overnight sleeper train back to Cairo. Dinner onboard train. **Optional extra excursion to visit Abu Simbel can be added. **Flights back to Cairo also available, please note your preferences in the enquiry form.

DAY 08 - Egyptian Museum, Citadel, Old Cairo:
Arrival to Cairo and meet for transfer to begin full day tour visiting the Egyptian Museum, then the Citadel of Saladin with its Alabaster Mosque and the Tomb of Ottoman ruler Mohamed Ali. The excursion also includes touring around the Old Cairo area where you can find a mixture between the Islamic and Christian Monuments such as the Abu Serga Church, Al Mo'allaqa Church or Hanging Church which are dated back to the beginning of the 5th Century AD and are built as the basilica style. Overnight in Cairo.

DAY 09 - Alexandria Tour roundtrip from Cairo:
Breakfast then departure on the drive (+/- 2.5hrs) to Alexandria. On arrival guided tour visiting Pompey's Pillar, Catacombs of Kom El-Shokafa, Alexandria Library, view of the Fort of Quaitbay from outside, Roman Amphitheater & Montazah Palace. Return on the drive back to Cairo and overnight stay.

DAY 10 - Departure
Breakfast, check-out and per your international flight departure time meet for transfer to Cairo Airport.
