19-Day Itinerary for Central Europe & Adriatic Coast Tour

Day 1 - Arrival Prague

Day 2 - Private Prague City Tour

Your walking tour in Prague will focus on its history, architecture and art. This city is famous for its Astronomical Clock, presided over by a tall Gothic tower, in the Town Hall. See the House at the Minute, and its Renaissance graffito. It is where Franz Kafka lived as a child. Kinsky Palace has one of Prague's finest rococo facades, and is famous for several events: Alfred Nobel stayed in the palace, and in February 1948 Klement Gottwald proclaimed the communist rule in Czechoslovakia from its balcony. If you just want to wander aimlessly through the mazes of cobbled lanes and hidden courtyards, or admire some Bohemian art, or enjoy a cold and foamed beer in one of the many local pubs and street cafes, Prague will definitely satisfy all your thirsts. During your tour you will see: the King Charles Bridge, Klementium, Church of St Clement, the Elliptical Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Old Town Hall, the Astronomical Clock, the Old Town Square, Kinsky Palace and the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn. You will also learn about the legends of King Charles Bridge, how the Jesuits built the second largest building in Prague, Franz Kafka and his childhood on the streets of Prague, etc.

Day 4 - Private Kutna Hora & Sedlac Ossuary Tour

Kutná Hora is a small town in central Bohemia, about 70km east of Prague. Centuries ago it competed for importance with the golden city. Kutná Hora owed its position and wealth to the silver mines that had been established there in the middle ages. Nowadays, the town has a population of only approx. 20,000 people but it is a very attractive tourist destination and a great place for a day trip from Prague. Saint Barbara's Church (Chrám Svaté Barbory) is a beautiful gothic church featured in many postcards. Its construction started in the 14th century and finished only in the early 20th century. St. Barbara is the patron saint of miners. The church is open daily and there is a small entrance fee for tourists. The Sedlec Ossuary (Sedlecká Kostnice) is also known as the Church of Bones, and it definitely is not your typical tourist attraction. As a matter of fact, classifying it as a tourist attraction might be considered by some people inappropriate. Nevertheless, it is visited by more than 300,000 tourists yearly. Sedlec is a suburb of Kutná Hora. The Chapel of All Saints where the Ossuary is located, and the Church of the Assumption of our Lady and Saint John the Baptist are the remnants of the former cistercian monastery in Sedlec. What makes the Ossuary so unique is the artistic use of human bones and skulls to create decorations for the chapel. There are garlands and chandeliers made of bones and skulls. Near the entrance you will see a large imitation of the coat-of-arms of the powerful Schwarzenberg family.

Day 5 - Prague to Budapest

Once there you'll have a bird's eye view to the Danube and the Pest side of the city. Overall, this bohemian city has a fin-de-siècle (turn of the century) feel to it, as most buildings you will see today were built in the late 19th century, the so-called "golden age" of the Hungarian Capital.
