tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contracts
that makes Athens such
a fascinating city. The guide takes you to see Constitution Square
(Syntagma Square) the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown
Soldier and the National Library. Driving down Herod Atticus Street,
you will see the Evzones in their picturesque uniform and the Presidential
Palace. On the way to the Acropolis, you will see the Panatheanic
Stadium (where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held
in 1896) (Short stop) the
Temple of the Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch. At the Acropolis
visit its Museum and

architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: Propylaea,
Temple of Athens Nike, Erechteion and finally, the monument that

Depart
from Athens driving through the fertile plain of Boeotia, crossing
the towns of Thebes
connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus, Levadia & Arahova,

and carpets. Arrive at Delphi the center of the Ancient world -
the "Omphalos" (Navel) of the
Earth - whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the
Hellenic world. On the slopes of Mt Parnassus, in a landscape of
unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of
the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Visit the Treasury of the Athenians,
the Temple of Apollo
and the Museum containing such masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture
as the bronze

Leave
from Athens via the coastal road going along the Saronic Gulf to
the Corinth Canal,
which connects the Aegean Sea and Ionian Sea. Drive to Mycenae,
the Homeric City of
the Atreides - the city "rich in Gold" of the ancient
poets. Here you stop to visit the Lions
Gate, Cyclopean Walls, Royal Tombs etc before departing to Naphlion
nestling at the foot
of
a cliff crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress.
After lunch leave for
Epidaurus to visit the 4th century BC theatre, famous for its astonishing
acoustics. |

Transfer
by motor coach from Athens to Piraeus for embarkation on the cruise
boat. Then
sail for the island of Hydra where you have time for strolling,
shopping or swimming. In the
early afternoon sail for the island of Aegina, passing through the
narrow strait separating
the Peloponnesian Coast from the island of Poros. Lunch is served
after sailing. Short visit
of Poros. Upon arrival in Aegina you can either join the optional
extra excursion to Temple
of Aphaia (by bus) or walk around on your own in the town or enjoy
a swim, if the weather
permits. At around 6pm embark for the return voyage to Athens and
transfer to your hotel. |

Leave
Athens and drive South West until we reach the Corinth Canal which
connects the Aegean sea with the Ionian sea ( short stop). Drive
on and visit the Ancient town of Corinth where St. Paul lived and
preached for two years. The remains of the City, which include the
Agora (Market place) and Apollo's Temple (6th century B.C.), clearly
show how rich and important Corinth was in Ancient Times. A short
stop at the Site of the Ancient Port of Cehries, where St. Paul
disembarked, will conclude the visit. Return to Athens.

Drive
along the coastal road, past the beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni
and Varkiza to the most southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion.
Here the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. On
the way you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and little
islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you have
time to walk at leisure on the rocky
promontory of Sounion. |

with a drive to the port of Piraeus, passing by the port of Zeas
